my value is i want to find whatever i do that can best make a contribution to the people in the city i love and the state i love. you and i both know this because you have done some great shows on this. we live in a country that has so much work to do. we still live in a country where men and women are denied equal citizenship rights because of who they decide to love. we live in a country where we have an abject failure in war on drugs that is costing taxpayers billions and billions of dollars and locking up more people than any country on earth. we still haven't faced up to immigration policy. we still have poverty, people working full-time jobs, still below the poverty line. there is an urgency to address one simple test. when a child stands up in oakland, california and a child stands up in a more affluent area and they say those five words, liberty and justice for all, we are still in a country that's working to make that more perfect union that makes those words real. we all should feel like we should be thinking what can i do in my life to best serve that ideal. >> booker for
